Empower Europe with Genuine Green Energy Projects
Say "No" to Greenwashing - AFT pledges to implement the most efficient, eco-friendly energy-from-waste system available to provide transformative power for Ireland and Europe. Further, AFT is undertaking R&D projects to hone its technology in the quest for seamless circularity. Facilitate a Just Transition for all - inform yourself and others on the conversion of waste plastic into hydrogen. See how it's done, support us, and be part of a paradigm shift:
THE TECHNOLOGY
Transforming non-recyclable waste plastic into hydrogen, a zero-emission fuel.
Alister Future Techologies (AFT) and its parent Hydrogen Utopia International (HUI) present a novel way of transforming non-recyclable plastics that would otherwise pollute, into valuable gases. The process is a paragon of circularity, and does not emit noxious gases into the environment.
The technology comprises a multi-stage thermal process, converting plastics at temperature, in a sealed, oxygen free environment. Prior to entering the reactor system, the received plastic feedstock is shredded to size and dried. No sorting or cleaning is required.
In the first stage reactor, the plastics are heated to around 300°C, and undergo transition to vapour phase, with any solid contaminants that may be present in the feedstock separating out. This residual solid material is cooled and removed; this removal takes place such that no reactor gases escape.
Further heating to around 650°C takes place in the second stage reactor, where the material is converted to a mixture of gases.
The third stage reactor operates at 850 to 900°C, where the complex mixture of gases break down to a synthetic gas known as “syngas”, with the major components of methane, hydrogen and carbon oxides. The conditions within the reactor system are oxygen free, and therefore no combustion or “burning” takes place, and there are no emissions of the gas mixture to atmosphere. By using Green Electricity to heat the reactors, no CO2 is emitted in powering the reactors.
The resulting syngas is cooled, recovering the energy, and passes to the gas cleanup section, where trace components resulting mainly from contaminants in the waste plastics are removed. The hydrogen is extracted from the syngas, and purified to export grade (99.999%) using pressure swing technology.
The remaining syngas can be exported as a base chemical, or used to generate heat or power, depending on the specific application.
Our high-grade hydrogen can be used for a multitude of transport applications, to power buses, trains, HGVs, private and fleet cars, boats, even planes! Hydrogen can be used in fuel cells or gas turbines to produce electricity with high efficiency and low emissions, serving as a complement to intermittent renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power.

INTERREG ATLANTIC AREA PLAST4H2 PROJECT :
"Plastic circularity through an efficient detection, collection, and valorization into Hydrogen and value-added products" .
AFT is proud to be part of a consortium working on an exciting initiative, PLAST4H2, co-funded by the EU, bringing together universities and enterprises in the Atlantic Region, from Spain, France, Portugal and Ireland.
The group is carrying out important R&D towards finding a practical, sustainable solution to the threat posed to nature by ocean-borne plastics. The project centres on how to detect and collect plastics to prevent them contaminating the sea, instead converting them into hydrogen which can be used as a zero-emission fuel for a plethora of transportation and maritime applications.

EU JTF Community and Enterprise Grants Scheme - Award Announced
Further to approval in principle by the Eastern and Midland Regional Assembly (EMRA), the Managing Authority for Ireland's EU Just Transition Fund (JTF) programme and the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC), the sponsoring Department for the EU JTF Community and Enterprise Grants Scheme, AFT is proud to report it has been successful in its application for an award.
"The EU Just Transition Fund (EU JTF) is a €169 million investment programme, co-funded by the European Union and the Government of Ireland. It supports communities across Europe who have been the most negatively affected by the transition to climate neutrality by addressing employment, economic, social and environmental issues to ensure the transition is fair and just, and nobody is left behind. Aligning with the National Climate Action Plan in Ireland, the EU JTF is focused on the wider Midlands region which has been impacted by the move away from peat production and electricity generation from peat.
The EU JTF targets the area’s most negatively affected by the closure of peat-reliant power stations. The designated EU JTF Region in Ireland is defined as the counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Roscommon and the Municipal Districts of Ballinasloe (Co. Galway), Athy, Clane-Maynooth, (Co. Kildare), Carrick-on-Suir and Thurles (Co Tipperary)." Source: EU JTF/EMRA/POBAL
The grant will fund the pilot phase of a larger proposal to develop a facility in Co. Longford which will chemically recycle mixed waste plastic into a high calorific synthetic gas, from which hydrogen and methane will be extracted.
AFT is working with POBAL, the agency that administers and manages Government and EU funding to address disadvantage and support social inclusion.
Support from Poland: Letter of Intent from Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan.
At Alister Future Technologies we are actively seeking academic and commercial partners that share our vision of a sustainable future for all and are committed to a Just Transition for territories across Europe.
Professor Adam Huczynski has shown his support for AFT's Longford project, and has confirmed that the university will cooperate with AFT's parent Hydrogen Utopia International PLC (HUI), along with its partner Powerhouse Energy PLC.
It is HUI's ultimate goal to deploy its technology across Europe for increased energy security and economic growth in the region. Sites in Poland and neighbouring regions eligible for Just Transition funding have been identified and first stage feasibility studies and negotiations have been undertaken in prospective towns.
The Fisherstown Site, Longford Soon home to a Hydrogen Energy Hub
Join us in transforming County Longford into a showcase of circularity and clean power production. The initiative will create lifetime careers and opportunities for substantial economic growth across the Irish Midlands. AFT will replicate its blueprint to benefit Ireland and Europe.
